ESSA™ is a specialist energy modelling and planning company. Often referred to as one of the leading, if not the leading energy modelling company on the continent. We are recruiting for a general manager to fulfil our succession planning in South Africa as we expand internationally.

 

At the onset it is important to acknowledge we are a young, entrepreneurial and an energetic company that prides itself in being dynamic, the best and changing the status quo of our industry. There is very little that is easy within our company as we are forever pushing boundaries and remain pedantic – ‘attention to detail’. The team is customer centric and dedicated to delivering a socio-economic strategy in parallel to our projects.

  • Develop a build methodology per job and seeing through the technical side of the project to commissioning;

 

  • Daily checks on machinery, both
    on-site and remotely;

  • Fault finding and repair maintenance;

  • Assembling of new production
    lines when planned;

  • Interact with suppliers of
    components, locally and internationally
  •  Interact with international
    technical and engineering teams to problem solve;

  • Ensuring production runs
    smoothly and effectively either at our assembly facility or on the client’s site

General Manager for the South African Operation

Qualitative:

  • Maintaining and ensuring the good will of the company;

  • Delivering client communication in conjunction with the team;
  • Work 100% independently and within measurable KPI’s;

Quantitative:

  • Good understanding of root cause analysis and process mapping / implementation of processes;
  • Measuring existing processes and KPI’s;
  • Sign off on monthly client dashboards and ESSA™ reporting;
  • Attend monthly meetings, provide monthly reports;
  • Manage the implementation of training plans;
  • Managing day-to-day running of contracts for customers, covering the full operational value chain from implementation of awarded tenders until eventual termination;
  • Integration to support areas (IT, Finance, HR, etc.);
  • Daily workflow management and effective resource planning, identification of problems and problem resolution;
  • Implement and monitor the application of good governance principles, Treat Customers Fairly (TCF) principles and legislative compliance;
  • Manage escalation process to resolution and identify and fix process inefficiencies;
  • Continuously monitor turnaround times and quality standards and resolve issues speedily to enhance client service delivery;
  • Contribute to the process of negotiating objective and realistic service level agreements, monitor appropriateness and recommend adjustments;
  • Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that client expectations are managed;
  • Create a positive work climate and culture to energise employees, give meaning to work, minimise work disruption and maximise employee productivity;
  • Ensure that health and safety laws are followed; and
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.

Financial Compliance

  • Compile all operational expenditure budgets;
  • Ensure compliance with set operational variable cost;
  • Attend monthly meeting with company Financial Manager;
  • Oversee project costing and prepare directors pack for sign off;
  • Ensure relevant operating licenses are in place and current; and
  • Ensure all required reporting is completed accurately on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Demonstrate two consecutive years’ experience in a similar position; and
  • Grade 12 and Tertiary

  • Project support resource (you) provides vital assistance to project managers;
  • You are a highly-organised, dynamic professional who will work on important projects for all kinds of different organisations, from rubber companies to office blocks, steel mills and so on;
  • As a project support officer, you won’t only perform routine administrative duties like minute taking – rather, your responsibilities will be inextricably tied to the success of the project you are working on;
  • Meticulously driving everything forward from planning to implementation, keeping the project director up to date and your actions will directly influence the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the project;
  • Every project is different and therefore your duties will change accordingly. However, for the most part, you will be responsible for
    • monitoring project schedules and budgets;
    • preparing progress reports; and
    • liaising with key stakeholders.
  • As the project manager’s right-hand man (or woman), you will play an important role in project planning and risk and issue management;
  • You will log, manage and analyse information on the progress of the project, using Excel and other bespoke databases;
  • You may even be responsible for managing certain processes or part thereof from day one.
